Singing Valentines

Every year the Mountain Melodies Chorus has sold singing Valentines all over Stevens County.

In years past, Liz and Arnie Bocker provided a school bus to take the group from one "gig" to another. This year the project went on as Liz would have wanted...Arnie once again provided the bus. The Chorus sold about 130 Valentines this year.

Some recipients embarassingly refer to the receipt of the Valentines at their places of employment as "being ambushed." Here we see the Director, Judy Estep, conducting the Chorus (behind the camera) singing Valentines to a Math Instructor at Colville JC. The class really enjoyed the embarassment of the instructor.

While at the College, the Chorus managed to ambush two of the sons of baritone Laurella Pickett, Ian and Michael, out in the hallways. Here they are, hugging their mom after the ambush.

It takes a week to deliver all the Valentines, 3 days of which are spent on the bus. The reactions by the recipients range from delight to total shock, all worth the effort and fun. Valentines are delivered by the full Chorus and quartets.
