American Cancer Society

This was the third year for the Melodies to take part in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. This year's team captain for the Melodies Relay Team was Meg Lawson.

Activities began with the march of the Cancer Survivors, their families, and finally, the teams, led by the local Boy Scout Flag carriers and a bagpipe Marching band from Canada. It is truly a moving ceremony as people applaud the survivors. I'll just use pictures from last year's ceremonies again...

After the ceremonies were completed, pictures were taken of all the teams. We got this one of the Melodies folk that were there for the opening ceremonies...

The organizers of the Relay had made a stage out in the infield of the track this year, making it easier for people to hear all the music whilst they walked. That is where the Melodies performed for the walkers.

This performance included a special song for a friend of the MC of the event, who was celebrating a birthday...her 80th..

PS - the Relay was incredibly successful this year, having raised more than $100,000.
